An essay is, generally speaking, a type of written piece that gives the writer’s point of view, but the exact definition is somewhat vague, encompassing those of an essay, a newspaper, a publication, an opinion, and even a shor t narrative. Essays have always been considered academic and formal. In earlier times this was true, but as time has gone by it has been possible to write an essay with marginal notes and then interpret them in many different ways. The essay may be an ingenious work of prose or it can be a dry factual list of studies and facts. One could classify an essay as historical, political, aesthetic, moral, critical, or even commercial in its various guises. It’s true that some essays are very difficult to classify.
The two chief types of essays are narrative and descriptive. The storyline kind of essay contains one or more narrations, either private or from the writer’s point of view. These may be short stories, books, biographies, or perhaps re-telling of particular events. Narrative essays are extremely popular these days, due to the growth in engineering.
The second principal kind of article, commonly called descriptive article, is not as common nowadays. In a descriptive essay the focus is not on characters, scenarios, or placing, but on descriptions of objects, thoughts, or theories. As its title suggests, such essays normally take care of descriptions or put other things into words. Thus one can get a vast assortment of such descriptive essays in most categories and areas of research.
A descriptive article differs from a narrative essay in the usage of speech. In a story essay the language is that the author uses it to tell a story, complicated a notion, or illustrate an argument. Thus a writer cannot begin a descriptive article using a very simple description of an object. Instead, the focus of the essay is to explain or exemplify the thing in such ways as to create the writer’s point. In a short piece of literature, on the other hand, the focus is not so far on the object since it’s about the more general topic of the narrative told from the item.
One interesting kind of a descriptive article has come to be known as the argument essay. An argument essay functions very much like a narrative essay in that it begins with an introduction and then uses arguments to support one’s standpoint. However, unlike a narrative essay, a discussion essay does not have a protagonist and a villain. Rather the focus is on the general theme of the piece. As such, this type of essay can cover many distinct topics which range from religion to politics and science to sports.
There are two big types of argument essays – critical and analytical. Analytical essays are composed to present research findings while crucial ones are more concerning opinion based on facts and research. To be able to write an analytical essay, the student has to have the ability to analyze information, look at arguments rationally and reach a decision about a topic. On the other hand, in order to write a critical essay the student has to be able to learn if the thesis is falsified or if there’s enough evidence to warrant a position.
